Young Designers' Scholarship Competition

Due to school closures because of COVID-19, the Young Designers’ Scholarship Competition will not be held this year.  Entry guidelines will remain the same for 2021 and students are encouraged to submit entries they are currently working on for next year’s competition.

The Young Designers' Scholarship Competition is a house design contest for high school students interested in drafting, architecture or home building. The competition is open to any student enrolled in a public or private secondary school in Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Southampton County, Suffolk, Virginia Beach or the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Any high school or technology center located in one of the aforementioned geographic areas is eligible to apply for a grant of up to $1,000, to be used for an equipment or material purchase for the school's drafting/design program. To apply for the grant, you must fill out the Equipment Grant Application, including a statement of why you feel your program deserves/needs the grant and how you would use it.

The 2020 competition criteria and student information form are available now!
