Awards of Excellence Celebration

CMHC's annual Associates' Showcase and Awards of Excellence Celebration is truly the "Academy Awards" event for more than 500 multifamily housing professionals.

Held each summer, the event kicks off with a two-hour trade expo featuring product and service displays.

Then, it's on to dinner and the awards program.  In the weeks leading up to the event, judges score apartment communities throughout the area, selecting gold, silver and bronze winners in a variety of Awards of Excellence categories.  Staff professionals also compete for honors in the Merit Award Competition.

AREA’S MULTIFAMILY HOUSING INDUSTRY HONORS THE BEST OF THE BEST AT ANNUAL AWARDS CELEBRATION

The Coastal Multifamily Housing Council announced the winners of its 39th annual Awards of Excellence Competition July 18, 2024 at a ceremony held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Merit Awards were presented for outstanding individual performance and Awards of Excellence were given to exceptional apartment communities in southeastern Virginia, competing in categories based on when they were constructed, as well as in categories specific to certain community features.

MERIT AWARDS

Six individuals and two apartment communities were honored for their performance in the multifamily housing industry this past year. They include:

• Regional Property Manager of the Year: Monica Jackson, Frye Properties
• Property Manager of the Year: Wendy Williams, Lawson Companies
• Leasing Consultant of the Year: Amy Gutterman, Lawson Companies
• Maintenance Supervisor of the Year: Demik Powers, Pembroke Realty Group
• Maintenance Employee of the Year: Kenneth Tallarico, Pembroke Realty Group
• Above & Beyond Award: Steven Dyer, Pembroke Realty Group
• Residents’ Choice (recognizing the apartment community whose residents voted it “the best” in an online competition)
    Winner:  Riverside Station Apartments, Franklin Group Companies
    Runner up:  Two Hundred West Apartment Homes, Franklin Group Companies
• Associate of the Year (Individual or Company who offers support to the council through its sponsorships of, and participation in CMHC programs and events):  Redi Carpet Sales of VA
